What we do with your information -

We collect your information for the safety of our guests. It also helps us understand who we areaccommodating at our property for the safety of our staff. Website user and guest
date/information can be used for analysis and statistical purposes.
In order to streamline the booking process we need and collect our guests’ names, nationality, date of birth, emails and gender for analysis but also with the collection of credit card numbers to secure the reservation.
In relation to bookings (whether individuals, couples, friends, family or groups), we send confirmation emails and this is why we need your email address. This is needed to further communicate such as unforeseen circumstances as bus cancellations or strike information. We will normally ask for your consent if you would like to receive newsletters, etc. via email.
In certain circumstances we may need to contact previous guests in relation to lost property or post/deliveries that may have arrived for them.

RESERVATION Information and Data collected.

In order for us to secure and confirm a reservation for you we will require the following:

  • Your Name
  • Mobile number in case of an emergency
  • Gender – to help allocate room types
  • Nationality
  • Identification for Check In - Passport, Driving License
  • Credit Card details – including expiry and three-digit (CVV)
  • Date of arrival and departure
  • Email address

Once you arrive we will require the same information from everyone in the party, please ensure
that they are all aware of this.


In order to guarantee reservations via all channels (telephone, website or smartphone
application, but not restricted to), we require a full 16 digit debit/credit card number, name on
the card, card type (we accept VISA, Mastercard and AMEX), three digit security code and the
expiry date.

Your debit/credit card details are only used to secure your booking and Four Courts Hostel will
only debit the account if you do not follow our cancellation policy. Online or direct reservations
can be cancelled at least 24 hours prior to arrival will not be charged. Different policies apply
to ‘group bookings’ and ‘weekly student bookings’ – all are available direct. ‘No shows’ and
‘late cancellations’ will be charged the full amount of the first night and the remainder of the
reservation will be cancelled. Equally, we retain customer card details for our group ‘Code of
Conduct’ where a pre-authorisation is required in the event of any damage to the rooms. This is
communicated and agreed with the customer before arrival and on arrival in the form of our
‘Code of Conduct’ contract.

Four Courts Hostel indemnifies itself against all data use on, and reservations made via third
party websites/agents. Please refer to their relevant and specific privacy policy along with their
terms and conditions.

Guest Personal DATA

We at the Four Courts Hostel respect our guest’s privacy. We will not sell or disclose our guests
personal information to any business, person or third party unless compelled to by the Garda, in
the case of an emergency or if necessary as part of our duty of care.

Keeping our DATA up to date

As a tourist hostel and accommodation provider, we often have guests who return on a regular
basis. Sometimes we may need to contact you if you have booked accommodation with us and
we suspect the information we have on you to be untrue/false. Therefore it is your duty to
inform us if any of the data we hold on you may need to be updated.

How do we use cookies?

Cookies are small text files and information which are sometimes downloaded on your PC or
mobile device when you first visit our website in order to remember who you are. Cookies will
contain two pieces of information, a site name and a unique user ID. Cookies cannot be used
alone to identify you, however they may be used to identify your IP address. Cookies can help us

For promotional purposes we may engage a professional photography company. Please note that
no permission is needed by us to do so on our property but if filming or photographing other
guests not part of your group, please ask for their permission. Verbal consent is seen as a
gesture of good will. If you do not wish to be filmed/photographed, please voluntarily leave the
shoot area.


Other than for the purposes referred to in this policy, we will not disclose any personal
information without your permission unless we are legally obliged to do so (for example, if
required to do so by court order or for the purposes of prevention of fraud).


By submitting your information to us, you consent to the use of that information as set out in
this ‘Privacy Policy’. You may request at any time that we provide you with the personal
information we hold about you. Provision of such information will be subject to proving your
identity and full address with a utility bill and acceptable photo ID.


We may change our ‘Privacy Policy’ at any time. Continued use of our websites signify that you
